The mission of the Defense Critical Infrastructure Program (DCIP) is to enhance the risk management decision-making capability at all levels to ensure that Defense Critical Infrastructure (DCI) is available in an all-threat and all-hazard environment. This risk management program seeks to ensure the availability of assets critical to the warfighter and the Department of Defense.
This program falls under the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Homeland Defense and Americas’ Security Affairs with responsibility to provide policy and guidance for the DCIP and oversee the risk management of DCI with a focus upon Defense Critical Assets. It also reviews DCIP and related DoD program funding requirements and recommend appropriate changes and/or allocations. DCIP also supports the Secretary of Defense’s role as the lead sector-specific Federal agency official for Defense Industrial Base critical infrastructure.
