Maria Proestou, Kevin Mills, and Bob Elseth founded DELTA on the principle of providing reasonably priced, high quality senior support services. They signed the company’s first contract with DTI Associates on October 10th for $26,031. The company ended the year with revenues of $137,000
September 11, 2001
Bob Elseth, one of DELTA’s co-founders and the company’s COO, was also a Naval Reserve Officer. He was on active duty serving in the Navy Command Center in the Pentagon when Flight 77 crashed into the building. He was killed in that terrorist attack. His widow Annette accepted the Purple Heart awarded to him posthumously.
2002
DELTA secured its first prime contract award through the Department of Transportation. By the end of 2002, DELTA had 10 employees and revenues of $1.7 million dollars.
2003
DELTA won its first commercial services purchase order to perform Flash Programming support for a company. DELTA continued to see the success of its hard work. The company added six new employees and ended with revenues of about $2.4 million.
2004
Ten employees joined DELTA’s ranks bringing the employee count to 26. The company was on the winning team for the NAVSEA Task Force Lean contract. Revenues rose to $4 million, the company completed a 1,200 sq. foot expansion of its headquarters, and it opened a satellite office at Virginia Beach.
2005
DELTA secured many new contracts this year, including ones with NAVSEA. To accomplish the work, the company brought on 28 new employees, more than doubling the company’s workforce to a total of 54. Revenues also doubled in 2005 to $8 million DELTA. In addition to financial success, DELTA won two Communicator Awards for graphic design.
2006
DELTA continued to see strong growth and hired an additional 15 staff members for a total of 69 employees. At the end of the year, DELTA won a contract with DISA and MOBIS, and NAVSEA awarded DELTA a five-year small-business set-aside contract for Strike Force Interoperability Engineering. The company ended the year with revenues of $14.4 million.
2007
DELTA grew almost a third, adding 57 new employees in 2007. The company sorely needed all that additional help as the company’s took on more work and revenues skyrocketed to around $20 million. Washingtonian magazine named DELTA as one of the great places to work.
2008
DELTA grew to over 200 employees and had about $31 million in sales. 48% of this growth was related to new work on new projects. The other 52% came from increased work on existing contracts. DELTA shared the honor of receiving three important awards with our teaming partners: the NDIA Tester of the Year award and two David Packard Excellence in Acquisition awards.
2009
As an emerging small business, DELTA continues to attract top-notch staff, create an exceptional place for them to work, increase sales, diversify its client base, and work effectively by continuing relationships with clients in a partnership in service of America. Although the size and scale of its business has changed since its founding, DELTA’s core commitment has remained the same—helping America’s leaders make the best decisions for our country’s future.
2010
A milestone is reached as DELTA celebrates its 10 year anniversary in October. A decade of service and continued success is recognized as DELTA is named to 7th Annual Great Place to Work® Rankings: 2010 Best Small & Medium Workplaces Presented by Entrepreneur®. The award demonstrates employees wanting to work for a company that is dedicated to its customers and partners.
2011
DELTA is named to the Virginia Chamber of Commerce’s Fantastic 50 list as one of the fastest growing companies in the state, and is also a Star Workplace Medium winner in the second annual GovStar Awards. DELTA is also honored once again by both Washingtonian magazine on their list of Great Places to Work, as well as by Entrepreneur® on their Great Place to Work® Rankings: 2011 Best Small & Medium Workplaces.
2012
DELTA moves corporate headquarters to Alexandria, Virginia, bringing many of our staff under one roof. To better support our United States Marine Corps clients, DELTA also opens an office in Stafford, Virginia. DELTA continues to be recognized for excellence with awards from Entrepreneur® on their Great Place to Work® Rankings: 2012 Best Small & Medium Workplaces and SmartCEO magazine on their 2012 SmartCEO 100 Best-Run Companies list.
